Propeller Club Transportation Major Scholarship

 

  1.      This Scholarship is open to a student sponsored by a member of the Propeller Club of Baltimore who has been in good standing for four (4) years prior to the date ofapplication. The student is not required to be related to a member.   Members must also remain in good standing for the duration of the scholarship.

 

  1.      The Scholarship will be granted to graduating high school seniors and/or students (undergraduate/graduate) who are currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university. Students must major in a transportation related field or attend a transportation or maritime college / university. It will remain in effect for a maximum of four (4) consecutive yearsas long as the recipient is a member in good standing of the institution. Time off during the(4) years associated with a hardship or other event such as going on to graduate school, maybe considered for continued scholarship support upon request, provided that time does not exceed (18) months. The transfer of the scholarship to another college or university is not guaranteed, however, exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis. If the student changes their major to a non-transported related field or transfers to a non-maritime college/university the Propeller Club reserves the right to suspend the remaining portion of the scholarship.

 

  1.      Applicants must have demonstrated academic ability as certified by their most recent high school or college transcript available at the time of application. The applicant must alsohave completed the Scholastic Aptitude Test and/or ACT and enclose theresults.

The Transportation Major scholarship is $2,500.00 and awarded to one candidate/applicant per sponsor per year.

Funding of the scholarships will be at the sole discretion of the Board.  Payment will be made at the beginning of the first semester to the institution the recipient is attending in his/her name.

Students can apply for the Propeller Club Scholarship offered to members children and grandchildren and the Transportation Scholarship if they meet the criteria. One scholarship will be awarded per student, the award will not exceed four years.

A committee of “disinterested” members of the Club Board will be appointed to reviewthe applications and select the winner(s). The selection committee will also re-certify annuallythe previous recipients of scholarships.

The attached application must be completed in full and shall also include; one (1)“500-word essay”, at least one (1) letter of recommendation fromtheir current school and at least one (1) personal or employer letter of recommendation.  Applicantsmay provide any other information they may believe to be helpful to theselection committee.  Applicants are encouraged to fill out the application online but may mail the application to the address provided.  The application will be due by March 31,2017
